How to make a worsted wool rug step by step

It takes approx. 2 minutes to read this article

Worsted wool blankets are pleasing to the eye, especially on DIY instagram profiles. They are warm, nice to the touch and will serve as a great addition in home arrangements.

Materials needed

Depending on the size of blanket you want to make, you will need certain amount of wool. With 4 kg you will create a blanket of approximately 2m x 1 m. The price of wool ranges from 260 PLN to 300 PLN and it depends mainly on the country of origin of the material.

Making

To make the blanket, apart from wool, you need only your hands. Time of making the blanket is up to several hours, and it depends on its dimensions

A few disadvantages

In addition to the fact that the blanket looks beautiful and is relatively quick to make, a few disadvantages must be cited. Woolen materials, especially worsted wool, have a predisposition to felting and fuzzing. Frequent use of the blanket will result in a decrease in its aesthetic qualities. This process can be even faster when you have pets

In addition, we will not wash our product because of the mentioned felting process. Any cleaning of the blanket can lead to mottling and further to more serious damage.
