It takes approx. 2 minutes to read this article

In the summer season, when we have fruit and vegetables from the allotment or garden lying on plates and bowls at home, unfortunately fruit flies also like to appear in their vicinity. The same is true if you leave a glass of juice or compote on the table or do not close a jar of jam or marmalade. What is more, the insects multiply at an alarming rate and if we do not react decisively and quickly, they will breed throughout the house.

Fruit flies – where do they come from and how do I get rid of them?

Fruit flies, as the name suggests, smell the fruit acid that is produced by overripe or spoiling fruit. These insects carry bacteria and microorganisms that are not safe for our health, so it is best to start fighting them right away. We can buy insect sprays and special stickiesin the store, which are effective but not always 100% safe. Therefore, we recommend trying home remedies. The most effective one is to pour a mixture of dishwashing liquid and apple cider vinegar or juice into a glass or container. Remember not to mix the ingredients. After a few hours, you will notice that there are many drowned flies floating in the concoction. Pour the insect liquid into the toilet and replace with new liquid as needed
