Family vacation – how to avoid quarrels during the trip?

It takes approx. 3 minutes to read this article

Family vacations are often an occasion for quarrels. Already the stress of packing can cause conflicts. How can this be remedied?

Many people associate family vacations not only with relaxation, but also with constant quarrels. Is there any way to avoid them? It turns out that there is. However, it is important to know how to do it.

Start packing a few days in advance

Packing the whole family for a trip at the last minute is not a good idea. Everything is done in a stressful and nervous atmosphere, so it only takes a really small amount for a brawl to break out. Even two weeks beforehand, it’s a good idea to make a list of the things you want to take, so you don’t forget anything. Packing our suitcases a few days before the trip will give us confidence that we have taken everything we need and we can calmly count down the hours until our vacation together.

Everyone should have a role

It’s a good idea to determine who has what responsibilities. This is important especially during camping trips or vacations where we organize meals ourselves, for example. Dropping everything on one person is bound to cause stress and dissatisfaction. And after all, vacations are for all family members.

Plan finances together

It turns out that a common reason for holiday conflicts is finances. It’s usually a matter of spending much more than we intended. That’s why it’s a good idea to find out what the prices are in a particular place before you travel (this applies to both food and available attractions), so that you can determine how much money you will spend on the spot, if possible. It is a good idea to buy, for example, tickets to museums or other venues beforehand online. Then, not only are they cheaper, but we know how much we will spend on sightseeing or attractions.

Let’s count with the opinion of other family members

Mother and daughter prefer to relax, lying on the beach, while father and son would like to sightsee for hours? There are two options – either split up so that everyone can spend their time as they like, or come to an agreement. It is possible to determine which days are set aside for attractions and intensive sightseeing, and which for blissful laziness. After all, the vacation should please all family members.

Be aware that not everything can be planned

Wanting to avoid quarrels, we need to be aware that everything does not always have to be as we planned for ourselves. On vacation it’s worth being flexible, even if we don’t like such situations on a daily basis. A closed museum or amusement park that we wanted to visit that day should not spoil the holiday mood. After all, you can visit them at another time.

More laid-back than every day

It’s a good idea to loosen up during the vacations. When we notice that tensions are rising and one of the family members is annoying us, then it’s worth taking a few deep breaths, taking a short walk and answering honestly the question of whether we really want to waste the awaited and longed-for vacation on pointless conflicts and spoil our mood with them.
